summer. fall. winter. spring
(2019)
summer. fall. winter. spring is a poetic film about an Oromo daughter as she walks through four seasons of Minnesota, transporting herself through tea ceremonies, grass offerings, singing and dancing to commune with her ancestors. The imageries of the film weaves together smoke, tea cups, a tattooed hand, moving grass, close-ups of faces and eyes, men and women dancing in community, a lone woman by the lake, in order to show the making and preservation of Oromo ceremonies outside the cultural context of Ethiopia.
